Michael McPhee, an alumnus UMass Boston, Class of 2001, has helped develop grant proposals in the areas of famine, community radio, e-government, civic dialogue, and teacher training. At McCormack he has served as a liaison and guide for many international visitors, organizing seminars, coordinating receptions, moderating meetings, and leading field trips as well as historic walking tours of Boston. His interest in international democracy and development arose from a two year tour of duty with the U. S. Navy, including service as a security policeman in Asmara, Eritrea. He is currently working on proposed partnerships for UMass Boston with the Academy of Economic Sciences in Chisinau, Moldova and with the University of Asmara in Eritrea. At UMASS Boston, he is also involved with the Urban Mission Committee; he has developed a newsletter for "Give Us Your Poor" a film project being developed by McCormack's Center for Social Policy to raise awareness of the homeless; he has co-organized a PBS televised National Issues Forum that utilized civic dialogue on racial and ethnic tensions; and he has been involved with the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy as a volunteer at such events as the Massachusetts Gubernatorial Debate on Issues of Concern to Women.

Alkia Powell joined the Center in September of 2005. Alkia has over ten years of meeting management and event planning experience. Working with academia, associations and corporations, she has developed winning strategies for tradeshows, meetings and special events. Alkia is currently the Assistant to the Director and Operations Manager for the Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy (CWPPP), at the University of Massachusetts, Boston where she is responsible for developing and implementing all the Center's events, ensuring they are in alignment with the Center's goals. Prior to joining CWPPP, Alkia worked for Lesley University and NEX Communications Inc. and is a member of the Coalition of Black Women Inc. (formerly the Coalition of 100 Black Women). Alkia received an A.S. in Business Administrations from Fisher College, Boston, and is currently attending the Meeting Management certificate program at Northeastern University, Boston MA and studying for her designation of Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) from the Convention Industry Council.

Chris Brindley is the Computer Information Specialist and Webmaster for the McCormack Graduate School, serving all the centers and institutes of the school. He administers the school's entire computer systems, databases, and networks, as well as builds and maintains all its web applications. In addition to providing technical support to the staff, he also provides the same service to all the students of the McCormack Graduate School. Chris was employed with Stream International in Canton for almost 10 years. His last position held was a network operator in the
corporate network operations center. He is also trained as a Microsoft Systems Engineer.
